Un-expected Joy of Me and My Bike

Posted on Posted in Local, Personal Views, UAE, Uncategorized

It was not long ago that I decided I want to make one of my dreams come true. The passion for having a motor bike did not come overnight. It started way back, when I used to be in my early teens in school. Although then I did not know the difference between Harley Davidson and Honda Gold Wing etc. however, all I knew was I would love to possess a Motor Bike!

As recent as last year, I went through all the paper work procedures of applying for riding lessons, training sessions till I acquired the license.

When I think of it now, yes it was a hard work and it was more of a determination than anything else. It was worth all the trouble I under went. The day I got my riding license was one of the happiest days of my life, and knowing that I can ride legally on the highways was an un-expected joy and pride too.

The first ride on my own did not last long, as I was not sure what to expect on the road. Although left the house with all the confidence and the reassurances I gave to myself, but deep inside I was confused and started questioning myself if I have done the right decision in purchasing a Harley Davidson.

The immediate roar of the engine and the noise elevated all my fears! I am on Harley Davidson, During my brief test ride on my new Harley Davidson I was able to ride around our area and came to know my weak points, like how do I slow down on the roundabouts without a jerk etc.

My second ride lasted longer and I took the highway this time! Alas. People remember when they first fell in love with their significant other, and I remember when I fell in love with my bike (Al Yah) It was during the first hands-on drill when I bumbled my way into the first gear and drove across the Highway to Dubai its comfort and style too.

Al Yah gave me a complete presence of that moment. I did not think about what just happened or what was going to happen, or what is happening. I just experienced the moment and reacted on instinct as I flew the highway. The wind booms so loudly that I could not hear anything else, or even imagined any other sounds. Each bump in the pavement gently pushed me like a wave on a boat. My eyes could hardly believed what I saw, the motorcycle disappeared and I was only aware of the world in a different angel.

That was when I got up top speed and started testing my skills too.
I could not help but say “wow” inside my helmet.

Freedom to ride on my own is an attraction by itself compared to driving a car. Once freed of your steel cage you will be thrusting into the world to experience a broader existence of riding a bike. I cannot explain the feeling till one experiences it himself.

I feel my skin gently warming the temperature as I speed on the highway, I am no longer huddled behind a wheel disconnected from nature.

However, all this freedom and fun will not come without a price !

Then came what I never imagine in my wildest dreams : to ride through the Harley Davidson showroom!

How this happened I do not know and it will always remain a mystery to me!
Some say it was the Devils Eyes, but I think the reality was – I was dreaming I was flying.

The glass was broken into pieces and I felt my life was shattered into pieces even more smaller than the glasses itself. It was a collateral damage, both to the property and to the inner me. I felt that the world has to come to stand still, only to be awaked by the voices of all those around me from the Showroom. It was a nightmare .

From that day on I was given a name of window smasher, I felt very bad. As a matter of fact, it does not mean anything now when I recollect the incident. But it was painful then, I was about to lose my self confidence and pride, thank God to my family members who kept on re-assuring me that it was alright. My close friends, who were constantly there to give me moral support and to encourage me not to give up on myself.

The period of waiting was unbearable Al Yah it was also the healing time. I came into terms with myself, that these accidents happened and I am not the only one.

I was re-united with my bike again after an interval of 6 weeks. During this time I realized how much I have missed my Bike, not only me but even my little one missed the roaring voice of its engine!

  1. Wow! Lots of expression there bro. I remember how you felt after that accident with the Harley show room. It must’ve been a bummer…but alhamdulla you and Al Yah are back again, and ready to rock and roll. Just keep a good distance next time, and inshallah all will be good. Keep it up and the first to many buddy!
